The Heartland Council of the Institute of Management Accountants sponsors a Student Leadership Conference for students in accounting, finance and information technology at colleges in the Kansas-Oklahoma-Arkansas-Missouri region each year. This year, the School of Business looks forward to sending students to both the regional conference and the national conference.
Regional
This year, the conference is on Saturday, March 30, 2019, at Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri.
The School of Business would like to send 12 students to this conference so they can hear keynote speakers on current topics in accounting, finance and technology and participate in workshops to develop skills in leadership, career development and successful transitions from school to work. Students network with professionals in the region’s IMA chapters, interact with business students from many colleges and bring back knowledge and skills to take their places as leaders on campus.
This year, the students will need to travel by car to Springfield and stay overnight one night to take advantage of this opportunity. Costs are estimated to total: $1,500 or $125 per student.
National
The National Student Leadership Conference is hosted in Charlotte, North Carolina from Nov. 14-16, 2019. Students will be able to select their experience; choosing from topics like interviewing skills, modern finance, data analytics, forensic accounting, and many more beneficial topics. This event also promotes networking and developing students’ understanding of the careers that await them after graduation.
Last year, the conference was in St. Lous, MO. Students were able to travel via vehicle. However, this year our goal is to travel by airplane to North Carolina and stay overnight in order to take advantage of this opportunity. Costs are estimated to total: $3,350 or $670 per student.
Thank you for your consideration in helping students fund these trips!
