Washburn Tech: SkillsUSA

SkillsUSA is a national organization that improves the quality of America’s workforce through a structured program of citizenship, leadership, employability, technical and professional skills training. Students compete on the state and national levels in 102 different trade, technical and leadership fields to prove they are champions at work!

Washburn Tech students won 116 medals at the state competition last spring. Our competitors, who won gold medals at state, then qualified to compete against 6,300 other students on the national stage in Kentucky last June. Washburn Tech brought home seven medals, including three gold medals which signify the best in the country.
• Alex Hamacher, Cabinetmaking
• Bonnie Young, Related Technical Math
• Austin Zbierski, Extemporaneous Speaking
In addition, 22 of our competitors finished in the top five and 40 Washburn Tech students placed in the top 20!

Please help fund Washburn Tech’s SkillsUSA chapter. Your investment in tomorrow’s workforce will help serve as today’s solution to the growing U.S. skills gap.
