Mabee Library is seeking funds for two sound and audio projects in the library - a one-touch recording studio for student use and new sound equipment for use during major library events. Money raised will go toward each project that will benefit students.
One-Touch Recording Studio
One button, many possibilities.
A one-touch recording studio is a simplified video recording setup that requires no previous technical knowledge to operate. With employers demanding outstanding communication skills, this simple recording device empowers students to sharpen their abilities. With the touch of a button, they can practice presentations, speeches and video projects, and then save their recordings on a flash drive for self reflection or course credit. The intuitive interface enables faculty to record high-quality lectures for their courses without learning new technology. In this way, the one-touch recording studio enriches teaching and learning instead of distracting from it. In addition, departments and units across campus can deploy this technology to create presentations or informational videos for students that will help them navigate the university, understand their resources and graduate on time.
The simplicity of the one-touch recording studio drives accessibility into technology. The only user components are a USB drive and a button. The rest of the studio hardware—lights, camera and microphone—is automated, creating a streamlined user experience where media production is no longer intimidating or prohibitive.
Your gift will help the Mabee Library build this exciting learning space that can be used by everyone.
Sound Equipment for Events
The Student Friends of Mabee Library is a student organization united by a common desire to see the library become the academic heart of the university. To that end, the Student Friends support and sponsor events, lectures and educational experiences in the Mabee that enrich student learning outside of the traditional classroom.
During the past 18 months, aging sound equipment in the library has distracted from the transformative content of these events, and led to a less positive experience for both students and presenters.
Your gift will allow the Student Friends of Mabee Library to purchase new sound equipment that will be used at events like Open Mic Night, the iRead talk, debate watches, and Mondays at the Mabee. Thank you for facilitating a rich dialogue in the library and for helping students continue their academic conversations outside the classroom.
