The Department of English employs the most faculty and grants the most credit hours within the College of Arts & Sciences. Alongside literature and creative writing courses, department faculty teach composition courses all university students are required to complete. Some of these composition courses are offered to area high school students through Washburn’s Concurrent Enrollment Program (CEP); CEP completion provides students with a head start in their collegiate careers. The Department of English additionally oversees the university Writing Center, a student-led, student-focused, tutoring resource available for free to all Washburn students. Your gift to the department’s program fund would help fill immediate needs like equipment, materials, and programming required to sustain the full operations of the Department of English.
