The Mass Media Career Accelerator Fund will provide students with support for group learning activities curated by mass media faculty outside the classroom to provide field experiences, build resumes and portfolios, facilitate the exploration of career roles, and expand social and professional networks.
This fund will offer support to students who apply to participate in group activities planned by mass media faculty such as trips, both domestic and international, conference fees, unpaid internship or research opportunities, project equipment, or any other reasonable expense necessary for student participation.
Mass Media faculty are committed to making it possible for all mass media students to move learning beyond traditional coursework. We recognize that at an open-access institution like Washburn University, many of our students are first-generation, come from underserved populations, and may be supporting themselves completely while they complete their college degrees. These students often require financial support beyond what is typically provided by scholarships, such as for tuition and textbooks, to engage with experiential learning that can help them find and embrace their passion.
