Dean's Fund & Scholarships - Applied Studies

The School of Applied Studies is a professional school established in 1983 to provide educational programs in disciplines which respond to community and state needs. The school is comprised of five departments: allied health; education; criminal justice & legal studies; family and human services; and social work. Degree offerings range from the associate through master's degree depending upon the department. Some departments also offer one-year certificates. Washburn University provides 26 associate degree options in conjunction with Washburn Institute of Technology through the School of Applied Studies.

The School has approximately 1,250 majors and awards 31 percent of the undergraduate and 45 percent of the graduate degrees (excluding the School of Law) at Washburn. Applied Studies is accredited by 10 external agencies, which speaks well of program quality. The School also places more than 500 students in internship/clinical/practicum experiences in more than 400 agencies in Topeka and throughout the state of Kansas each academic year.

Whether they are teaching a second-grade classroom, intubating a patient in a hospital emergency room, supporting individuals in recovery from substance addiction, or serving in countless other vital roles, graduates of the School of Applied Studies (SAS) make a meaningful difference in the lives of others every day.

Your gift to the Dean’s Fund for Excellence helps turn students’ dreams of helping others into reality. These funds support faculty participation in cutting-edge conferences, ensuring students learn from the most current knowledge and best practices, and provide critical scholarships—especially for students who must complete full-time internships as part of their academic programs.

By giving today, you invest directly in the education of compassionate professionals and help ensure that SAS students are prepared to lead, serve, and make a lasting impact in our communities. Join us in shaping the next generation of difference-makers.

Your gift can enhance the Dean's Fund for Excellence or Applied Studies scholarships.
