In the fall of 2023, Washburn saw an increase of Hispanic/Latine students by 15.9% from the previous year.
HALO has been fortunate to provide opportunities for students who identify as Hispanic/Latine or express appreciation toward the contributions of students who identify as Hispanic/Latine. So far this year, HALO has been able to provide many experiences for students to create a sense of community and most importantly, celebrate Hispanic/Latine culture. Sadly, one of our biggest struggles this past year has been having enough funds to support our programming and events. With Washburn’s increase in access for first-generation students, low-income students and students of color, we are expecting HALO to be an even stronger support group. By donating, not only will HALO be able to create more events and a bigger impact, but Washburn will increase its visibility and inclusiveness of Hispanic/Latine students.
