Model United Nations is a student-led organization that provides students with the opportunity to learn in a cooperative, hands-on, experiential environment to confront a range of topics with the perspective of their assigned country or organization. Model United Nations offers a unique experience for students to develop an appreciation of differing viewpoints, experience the challenges of negotiation, see the rewards of cooperation, broaden their world view and discover the human side of international relations and diplomacy.
National Model United Nations conferences address important issues including regional conflicts, women and children, peacekeeping, human rights, economic and social development and the environment. Our goal is to provide a better understanding of the inner workings of the UN as students build skills in diplomacy and compromise.
Washburn Model United Nations send its students to conferences every year in cities like New York City and Washington, D.C., and countries like Germany and Ecuador to learn various soft skills taught through the art of compromise to better prepare our students for life after graduation.
