Bods Feeding Bods is Washburn’s food and commodities pantry. Established in 2014, BFB provides free food, hygiene and household items, school supplies and kitchen equipment for any member of the Washburn University and Washburn Tech community. Our mission is to ensure no one goes hungry at Washburn. In 2023, we distributed over 38,000 pounds of food and commodities to about 480 community members and their families.
Your gift on Day of Giving will support several initiatives at the pantry including:
- Helping us purchase swipes for our Free Swipes Program. This program provides Washburn students with 20 free meal swipes a month which can be used for all-you-care-to-eat dining at Lincoln Dining Hall.
- In addition to our main pantry, BFB also operates four smaller outposts in high traffic buildings on campus including Henderson, Morgan, Mabee and the Village. At the outposts, students can take and eat items immediately such as instant ramen, soups, fruit cups and granola bars. These items are in high demand but often in low supply. Gifts will help support our efforts to stock the outposts.
- Helping us purchase additional items that are in high demand such as soups and fresh produce, hygiene products like shampoo and toilet paper, and school supplies. Your gifts allow us to purchase these items at wholesale cost through Harvesters’ co-operative purchasing program and from other retailers at bulk discounts. This ensures we have the items community members need at the lowest possible cost.
Thank you so much for considering donating to Bods Feeding Bods. Together, we can ensure no one at Washburn goes hungry.
