We are seeking your assistance in sponsoring a group of "Champions" from Washburn University Institute of Technology who will participate in the SkillsUSA National Championships. Our students are preparing for the Kansas State Championships Conference in Hutchinson, KS, where the winners of the 1st place will earn the chance to compete at the National Leadership and Skills Conference in Atlanta, GA this summer.
SkillsUSA is a national competition that promotes collaboration between students and industry professionals, which plays a crucial role in shaping a skilled workforce. Students compete in various occupations such as computer technology, cabinetmaking, culinary arts, construction, automotive, precision machining, and graphic design, competing against both time and peers.
Washburn Tech has consistently excelled as a national leader in producing SkillsUSA champions, with our students earning over 690 medals at the state level and 24 medals nationally. Some have even qualified to compete internationally. Your generous contribution will enable us to send the next generation of industry professionals to test their skills against the best in their fields.
Our success is deeply rooted in the support we receive from both industry and the community. Your help is crucial at this juncture. It costs approximately $1,000 to send a student to Atlanta for a national competition. Last year, we proudly sent 28 students, the largest contingent from Kansas, and they returned with 6 medals. This year, we aim to send an even larger group. Your donation will play a vital role in ensuring that Northeast Kansas is well-represented and supported in the skilled trades.
