The University Honors Program invites you to support Washburn students travelling abroad and studying the literature and culture of 19th-century France. In May 2023, 16 students from major programs across the university will travel to Paris and the Loire Valley for 10 days. Their goal is to explore the salons and châteaux popularized by French courtesans – women who defined much of the social life of Paris in this critical era. In the semester before the trip, students will read novels, plays and memoirs to help them imagine the world of the 19th century in the locations they visit.
We want to raise $5,000 on Day of Giving to offset student expenses as they visit museums and cultural sites in one of the world's premier cities. Travel costs are rising, but the experience of visiting the settings of some of their favorite literary works is something students will remember for a lifetime.
