WIFI Film Festival
The 2023 WIFI Film Festival will run from April 21-23, 2023. Thanks to dedicated faculty and students, the WIFI Film Festival achieves the professional festival feel while remaining free and accessible to students and the community. Technology
As a media department, we are heavily dependent on technology to deliver high-quality education. Recently, funds were utilized to purchase a new printer for our media lab which is one of the few places on campus where students can print their projects for free as well as to acquire additional lighting kits, boom poles and lavalier microphones for our growing film classes.
Scholarships
Scholarships make all the difference in providing the access and opportunity for students to attend the mass media program at Washburn and get their start in life with us. Your gift to the mass media scholarship fund will ensure that deserving students get financial assistance so they can focus more on their education and less on how to pay for it.
Experiential Learning with a Travel Component
Providing unique opportunities for students to learn about the world through first-hand experiences is an important goal of the mass media department. These classes have a transformational effect on our students.
- In March of 2022, students from the Walt Disney & Society class traveled to Disney in Orlando, Florida, to get a behind-the-scenes examination of the Disney Corporation.
- In March of 2023, 10 students will be traveling to Paris, France, to participate in the International Media Seminar.
- In spring of 2025, students will have the opportunity to participate in Filmmaking: A Practitioner’s Guide to the Film Industry in Hollywood
