The Bods Feeding Bods Food & Commodities Pantry, established in 2014, provides basic necessities for any member of the Washburn community who needs short or long-term support.
This past year, Bods Feeding Bods partnered with the Harvesters Healthy Pantry Project to develop strategies to promote healthy eating alternatives and find ways to ensure that healthy options are available. As a result of our strategic planning, we were able to procure funds to purchase both a glass door refrigerator and glass door freezer. This was done with the goal of being able to offer cold items like milk, yogurt, eggs, fresh and frozen fruits and vegetables, meat, frozen meals and bread. We believe this will not only help us better address hunger issues among the members of the Washburn community who use this service, but that it will have a positive impact on the health of the community as well.
Currently, most of our donations are received as a result of food drives and items dropped off in our donation bins, so logistically, it is difficult to obtain these items if someone is unable to drop them off at the pantry during operating hours to be immediately processed. Therefore, we are hoping to raise money today to be able to purchase these types of items as needed in order to have multiple healthy options available for the members of the Washburn community who need our support.
We appreciate your consideration and kindness as you determine which of the deserving projects you will support during the Washburn Day of Giving. Thank you.
