The Care Closet provides relief to Washburn University Institute of Technology students who are experiencing hardships such as food insecurity, clothing, basic hygiene supplies and other basic living expenses. Your donation on Day of Giving can help students afford these expenses while still maintaining the needed focus on their education.
During Thanksgiving 2020, Care Closet provided 14 food baskets and Dillon's gift cards to students who requested them. The baskets helped give 58 family members a Thanksgiving meal.
Care Closet offers:
- Emergency personal care items such as deodorant, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrush, feminine care supplies (application and valid WU Tech ID required, availability based on annual budget)
- Food items including emergency one-serving Gatorade,one-serving mac-n-cheese, one-serving protein bars (application and valid WU Tech ID required, availability based on annual budget)
- Referral to WU Bods Feeding Bods Food Pantry (Valid WU Tech ID required)
- Emergency funds, limited amount (must complete application and valid WU Tech ID required, availability based on need and annual budget)
