Washburn University School of Law students have the opportunity to complete their final year of law school through the Third Year Anywhere enrollment option. One of these opportunities is in underserved communities in Kansas.
Kansas Legal Services provides important services that help close the gap in access to justice and provide legal services to those living in poverty in Kansas. Their budgets are tight, so they cannot afford to pay our students who want to do an externship. Law students interested in this work often cannot afford to spend the academic year working with no compensation while paying tuition. In many cases, students will need to relocate and obtain housing in the community they plan to serve or incur increased transportation costs.
Washburn Law seeks to raise funds to support students in a Third Year Anywhere externship with Kansas Legal Services.
