Washburn Upward Bound

Washburn's TRIO Upward Bound Program is giving first-generation, low-income students from Topeka High School the skills to succeed. Gifts made will allow Washburn Upward Bound staff to address the individual barriers and needs of Upward Bound participants, helping them persist through difficulty and keep chasing their college dreams.

Your gift would allow Washburn Upward Bound staff to provide direct support to participants such as emergency aid, school supplies, participation incentives, financial literacy programming and scholarships for those who matriculate to Washburn.

Academic and financial support make all the difference in first-generation student success. All students in Washburn Upward Bound are first-generation, low-income or both. They face numerous barriers to postsecondary entry and success, many of which are non-academic. Nationwide, only 20% of first-generation students graduate with a bachelor’s degree, but Upward Bound’s wraparound supports are changing this story. Your gift will allow Washburn Upward Bound staff to address the individual barriers and needs of Upward Bound participants, helping them persist through difficulty and keep chasing their college dreams.

Donations to this project will support the Washburn Upward Bound Program Fund.
