The First Passport Project was established to provide funding for WU students to obtain their first U.S. passport and open the pathway to study abroad. Donors to the First Passport Project make a huge impact by providing access to educational institutions and cultural experiences in over 180 countries. By supporting this project, donors are truly investing in the future of Washburn University students, helping them to develop a deeper understanding of global issues and fostering a more interconnected world. The First Passport Project is a thoughtful and powerful way to invest in the future of WU students.
For WU student Ethan Matthias, having a U.S. passport opened up a world of study abroad opportunities to explore, connect and learn. As a political Science major he participated in study abroad programs in Japan and Spain. These experiences led him to an opportunity to participate in World Model UN in Ecuador. He reflected on the value of his education at WU and credits his participation in international education with providing him a wealth of skills, a practical life experience, enhanced professional prospects and preparation for the complexities of our globally connected world. None of which would have been possible without a U.S passport.
Donations to this project support the Study Abroad Office First Passport Project Fund.
