Exercise Science Laboratory Fund

The field of science and medicine is ever changing, as our needs to train student on the most up to date equipment in the field of exercise science.

The Exercise Science Laboratory Fund is used to purchase equipment for our students in the classroom and in collaborations with faculty as part of a teaching and research laboratory examining human performance and athletic development.

Your gift will:

  • Help immediately fill the teaching and research needs for the exercise science laboratory
  • Assist with the growth and further development of the laboratory equipment and supplies
  • Provide potential collaborations with community programs and Washburn athletics

On the Day of Giving, we are raising funds for a Cardio Coach pro V02 max and resting metabolic rate cart. That will be used to determine one’s metabolic rate (metabolism) and aerobic capacity across multiple intensities. Washburn students will be using the equipment in multiple courses, university and community collaborations, and conducting research with the guidance of Assistant Prof. Eric Mosier.

If we raise sufficient funds, we will also purchase the Biopac data acquisition system which will be integrated with our AMTI accupower force plate. Allowing us to further examine forces, velocities and powers during human movements and athletic performances.

Thank you to those who consider giving this year and support our teaching and researching endeavors.
