The Washburn University Dancing Blues are an integral part of Washburn spirit. Serving as the university dance team, the Dancing Blues perform at home football games, women's and men's basketball games and NCAA tournament games. They appear at university and community events as well as compete at the national level.
The Washburn Dancing Blues participates in many fundraisers each year to compete at the DTU National Dance competition. The funds support the travel, registration, costumes and stay for our team members.
Our current costumes include pieces that are 20 years old and are outdated in branding and do not fit properly. Well-designed costumes are crucial for effectively conveying the artistry of our routines, directly influencing our dancers’ confidence and overall performance quality. Investing in new costumes will allow us to present a professional and cohesive appearance, reflecting the up-to-date branding and pride of Washburn University while enhancing our competitive advantage.
