Doing the Right Thing - Ethics in Business

Successful business leaders can recognize ethical issues, resolve ethical dilemmas and create an atmosphere that promotes positive ethical behavior. The School of Business has incorporated the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy’s Center for the Public Trust Ethical Leadership Certification Program as a requirement in the Organization and Management class so that all undergraduate students get a stronger grounding in ethics. The Ethical Leadership Certification Program, an online training platform, is used in tandem with lecture, case work and course objectives in the Organization and Management course specifically to “develop ethical competencies for future managerial roles.” Students work through a series of well-designed cases to increase their understanding of a variety of ethical dilemmas they will face in the real world. Through successful completion of the training and examination, Washburn graduates will stand out from other business school graduates by having this earned certificate on their resume.
