Have Kilt, Will Travel

Washburn art students benefit from travel by seeing the art, architecture, people and environment where many of the styles they study are created. Students come back from trips inspired and excited to enhance their own work and improve their technique and style.

For Day of Giving, we are raising money to help them visit lively Edinburgh, Scotland, in August 2020! While there, we will:

  • See riveting performances at the internationally-acclaimed Fringe Festival (the WORLD’S largest arts festival).

  • Seek out Edinburgh’s dynamic contemporary art scene.

  • Encounter castles, moors, and other sublime landscapes.

Won’t you help us? Edinburgh is one of Europe’s most cosmopolitan cities, and during the Fringe Festival, it literally embodies the Bard’s proposal that ‘all the world’s a stage’ as the city transforms itself into a global spectacle.

We intend to engage with the sights of the Fringe Festival and in addition to tickets to see anything and everything we can make time for, we will support Washburn University Theatre students in their performance at the Fringe, while also visiting the studios and galleries of Edinburgh. Our students need your help to participate in such a momentous event in faraway Scotland, and so we seek your aid!
